The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, provides a tax credit for qualifying energy-efficient home improvements, including windows and doors purchased and installed between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010. Homeowners can receive a tax credit equal to 30% of their investment, up to $1,500. In order to receive the tax credit, the window or door must achieve a .30 or lower U-Factor and a .30 or lower Solar Heat Gain Coefficient.
Wood windows and doors offer a natural wood style as well as energy efficiency. You can order them with a number of options such as, true divided lights, simulated divided lights, various hardware finishes, and natural or primed wood finishes. For a traditional look add exterior brickmould casing, flat casing, flat casing with backband and much more.
One of the greatest appeals of wood is the fact that no two pieces look exactly the same!
You're not stuck with the "cookie cutter" feel left by other, more uniform building materials. Grain patterns and color vary widely, adding texture, warmth and personality.
